New NnS book. Doing it joint with KirbyDances.

Nietz, we saw next Suwakoto chapter in the thread, but pesu is currently busy, so I'm not sure when exactly we can start working on it. Sorry.

Wow. I have to agree with Marisa - Alice didn't look nearly as developed the last time we saw her trying to take a bath with Marisa.

P1, panel 4: "I mustn't forget I didn't come here to play today" - very rough. Was "that" supposed to appear between ”forget" and "didn't"?

Page 4, panel 3 ”I thought maybe I'd look cuter in it" - same thing as the above, between ”thought" and "maybe".

Page 7, panel 4: "Isn't she much too defenseless?" - this sentence is a bit stilted. I'd either get rid of the much, or replace it with "a bit"

Page 9, panel 2: "soft as a board" sounds weird. Didn't she say hard, like she does a page later?

P 10, panel 3: "it may sound stupid to you. But I'm really troubled over it!" - I'd replace the period with a comma and change over to by or about. Like this: "It may sound stupid to you, but I'm really troubled by it!"

>> No.58875

Page 1, panel 4: I didn't write a "that" in my script because I really think it's not needed here, but why not.

Page 4, panel 3: I'd say no, because: leaving "that" out sounds best with the most common verbs of speech or thought, such as "say," "think," "know," "claim," "hear," or "believe." - Source: http://www.quickanddirtytips.com/education/grammar/omitting-%E2%80%9Cthat%E2%80%9D

Page 7, panel 4: hmm... No, it's really emphasized that she's MUCH too defenseless in Japanese. But I think I found a better translation anyway: "Isn't she way too defenseless...?"

Page 9, panel 2: yeah, that would sound much better (and she says neither soft nor hard in Japanese, she says that her chest is "kotsukotsu", which is the sound of knocking on wood, so I had to adapt a bit).

Page 10, panel 3: it actually is a comma (it's just that commas don't look very different from periods in that font and it's an all-caps font, it could be a good idea to use another font, though).

Thanks for the QC everyone, archive's updated.

> I'm so jealous of (..) Alice (bathing with Marisa), right now...

We all know that Alice's have no chances with Marisa, alas. I like ReiMari more, actually, but that will force NnS to create some sort of forced comforting pairing for Alice. That thought makes me sad.

Also, gentlemen, I got like ~ten notifications like that from MF already. I guess we should consider MF old and busted and start using something else instead. Mega, maybe?

>> No.58885

She doesn't have a chance, but I'm still jealous. Maybe if she'd been less pushy early on, she MIGHT have had a chance, but ReiMari is pretty much a solid pairing in a NnS story.

And unlike Satou Kibi Alice, she doesn't have the charm to catch anyone.

Speaking of which, there's two volumes I've seen on Danbooru that don't appear to have raws here, but I digress.

I have the pdf for the doujin novel of Gymmopedie, which is a supplement to many of the RD-sounds songs about Marry and Renko. Thing is I can't read Japanese. Is here anyone willing to translate it? or where can I find someone?

That's odd...it says that the password "rd" (without quotes, right?) is wrong, and I didn't have to input a password to open the zip file. Would it be possible to upload a copy that isn't password-protected?

I created a page at the link below (title pending)...but because the PDF text is vertical, you need to run the text through a line break removal and space removal tool before you can paste it properly. I don't usually do stuff on wikis so I'm kinda going in blind here haha, feel free to improve the formatting.

Will work on this slowly, but probably will never get it done on my own.

And here's the last remaining one in the series. Panel 4 of page 6 doesn't make sense to me, and it doesn't seem to have any kind of figurative meaning based on what I know/could find. If anyone can make sense of what Remilia says here, I'd appreciate the input. Will be asking some friends tomorrow, too.

I'll get started on an edit for The Weight of Life and work my way through in order of release.

Poor Meiling.

I asked my Japanese teacher about the problematic line, and after some clarification it ended up as:
"Immersing yourself in beauty causes your own beauty to shine.
That's why it's important to pay attention to what you surround yourself with."
Remilia appears to be drawing a parallel between bathing in blood and being surrounded by roses.

I was wondering if we should change the title to "Hatate's First Step" since "Hatate's Step: First Step" is really redundant and doesn't really sound right.

Thanks for editing. Here's some QC.

>I was wondering if we should change the title to "Hatate's First Step"

I agree, that sounds better. Btw, I realise that main title is a bit inconsistent among the other edited works, (http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Fantasy_Engineering_Works), should it be "Days Woven With Illusion" or "Days Woven From Illusion"?

>> No.58836

Thanks for the QC, Deruaz. Here it is with the fixes:

I went ahead and changed the title to "with", since two out of three already posted had it that way. I was the one that did the Wind Charmer one. Should I go back and change it for consistency's sake?

>> No.58838

Well, it's pretty minor, so up to you.

>> No.58858

It's ok, I don't think it's really necessary to retroactively fix all the other ones.

This is likely not related in this case, but the default Windows image viewer seems to have problem displaying downscaled images (like when you view images at "fit to screen"). It would create moire patterns which doesn't occur in some other viewers like IrfanView. They will disappear though once you zoomed in enough.

Now I'm all kinds of confused. I took a look on TouhouWiki and the circle is listed as Red Vanilla. Also looked at the other doujinshi I have by them and the ones that have translated the name say it's Red Vanilla as well.

I'm inclined to keep it as Red Vanilla so that I'm consistent with other translations, unless there's something I'm missing.

>> No.58400

Yeah, I think it's better to keep it as Red Vanilla. I would probably have to rename the archived file to that name in any case so as to not create confusion in the archive.

Sorry, not sure how I missed this one. Anyway, quick QC:

Pg. 06:
[2] "there are youkai who take things" instead of "who takes things"

Pg. 19:
[4]: "I should just do this tomorrow" instead of "should've just do"

Pg. 21:
"The easiest to draw is Kogasa" instead of "The most easy to draw"
"By the way" as opposed to "On the way."
"It was already too late..." would sound better than just "It was too late..."

Other than that, no problems. Thanks for the hard work.

Just a couple minor things:
On page 10, Mokou's line should be, "Is it okay, skipping work at a place like this?" or "Is it okay to skip work at a place like this?"

And in the afterword, you don't have to capitalize the b in "but I already think I [...]"
