I would say that it leans more towards the "love" angle as stated by >>13064.
The "love making" view seems out of place relative to the material of the doujin;
Yukari is definitely not passive in this respect. And by itself, it seems out of date.
As to the wooing aspect, the story seems to be about the development of their relationship, of which it seems Yukari tries to create interest in Rinnosuke so that he attempts to pursue her. But she fails, so has to come back and essentially take him by her prerogative.
This nicely matches the rest of the text following the given quote:
And if the fly, like my hero, shows a strength that promises to extricate him, how swiftly does she abandon her pretence of passiveness, and openly fling coil after coil about him until he is secured for ever!
As for a suitable replacement though, I don't know the particulars of the original Japanese to make something sensible for the context.
