Basic info here:
http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Touhou_Danmaku_Yuugi_Flowers_RPG

Not exactly the normal fare here, this is a Touhou role-playing game book that was scanned and posted on the /tg/ (Traditional Games) board on 4chan. Someone there translated a few pages of it, but that person appears to have fallen off the internet, and if I were to attempt it all by myself you'd have to measure the progress on a geological time scale. So I submit it here to see if anyone's interested enough to take a stab at it. I'll post the existing translations with the pages.

Lack of familiarity with RPG terms shouldn't be an obstacle; I'll be on hand to make it make sense if there's something confusing. Likewise, I can handle the layout myself, so all I really need is a script translation.

Any tabletop gamers here interested in lending a hand? Or someone who's not into that but is kind enough to help out anyway?

I will do an update, fixing some of the mistakes and using the feedback from the linked thread after I return from traveling (finally summer vacation!)...it may be about mid-august. Hopefully also I will do the 3 character pages, and get the Replay scenario translated as well. :)

>> No.39219

I uploaded it to gensokyo.org and created a wiki page for it.
http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/Touhou_Danmaku_Yuugi_Flowers
It's mostly empty, as you can see. Hopefully you guys can help detail it.

I'll make a post in the Gaku site to announce it later.

Hey there. I just recently got into translation editing, and I've been working on this Touhou doujin that's in Chinese for awhile now as my first project. Someone linked me this website which helped get me started by providing some tips and fonts:
http://www.unblessed.net/guide/main.html

He also told me it would be a good idea to come here if I needed more guidance. So would anyone else happen to know of some other good sources for beginner editors? Especially if it provides download links to more fonts, it would be a great help.

Well, for starters one of the biggest challenges I'm facing is what to do with the literal Chinese translations for sound effects and turning them into actual onomatopoeia. I don't know if I should leave them alone and keep their literal translation or express them as sound effects, or not even translate them at all. For example, the author included characters for words like "extend", "drop", "raise", "drag", to express most of his onomatopoeia. As for what sounds those type of actions make, I have no clue. He even occasionally even writes out how a character is currently feeling, such as "furious" or "shocked". Also, he doesn't really distinguish the text bubbles for what they are being used for, whether it be for talking, thinking, sound effect/onomatopoeia, or expressing emotional state.

Are you sure you aren't thinking of the sequel? This one has been out for awhile.
http://danbooru.donmai.us/pool/show/993

But all of the copies of his next book sold out awhile back, and I don't think anyone who wanted to share it to be translated ever got a hold of a copy.

Wait, that awesome stuff has a sequel??

>> No.39213

>>39208
Transliteration isn't a bad start especially if it's just action words. The way I would handle something like that is this: onomatopoeia say for tapping, scratching, breezes, or the like; for actions like "extend", "drop", "raise", or "drag", I'd just write it out.

If you have no clue what's going on, guess.

If you can't edit the sound effect cleanly, don't do it. Sound effects in action sequences usually get this treatment especially if there is a lot of dust, speed lines, or just plain chaos. If the sound effect is particularly important to giving a clue about what's happening, give it a try but don't kill yourself over it.

I read that the physical copy of the book has the full story, and the one posted on Danbooru (pixiv) is a only web preview.

Whatever, I just need closure man(,,#゚Д゚)

What is this title in English?

>> No.39168

Gensou ni Itaru Yamai
A Disease Arrives in Gensou (or Gensokyo since the fandom commonly uses Gensou as a shortened form)

>> No.39173

the title is more like "Into the Genso Disease" or "Imaginary/Fantasy Disease"

because the story describes the ability to fall into Gensokyo is like a rare disease and not a disease going around Gensokyo....

I wonder if something like this belongs here. Although it looks like a doujin, it's actually just a web comic put up by the author at his pixiv and site.

It's also quite small and sure to be a problem for editors. Still, I'd appreciate it greatly if something could be done with it. If it doesn't belong here, then I'll gladly delete it.

I ask you to remember that neither english nor japanese are my native language.
So while I can make sense out of the moonrunes, sometimes I just can't put it nicely in english afterwards.
Sure, Im learning. But for the sake of a job well done, when ANY of you spot some crude error please notify me. I appreciate the help.

also note that this transaltion is not complete. there are a few parts I just couldn't understand at all. I will need help with these.
and there are parts I couldn't read because it was too messy...
